# Team Handbook Guidelines

#### 8.0 TEAM HANDBOOKS

Kudos to you for being part of this great Canadian experience. Being a hockey parent, coach, manager, or treasurer is no small feat. There is a lot prepare, a lot to do, a lot to know, and it’s just a lot! But it’s worth it!

These handbooks will guide you through the process of your seasonal commitment.  Before we dive in, here is a quick rundown of your position.

**If you are a parent, you need to:**

- Register
- Fill out all necessary paperwork
- Ensure your child has proper equipment
- Ensure your child gets to games and practices on time
- Communicate with your team -be in the know
- Participate in your team events (fundraisers, team building)
- Volunteer when it’s your turn.

**If you are a coach, you need to:**

- Choose a team manager and treasurer
- Delegate
- Establish team guidelines and policies
- Be up to date in your training
- Create a team culture
- Lead your players on ice
- Attend coaches’ clinics
- Develop young athletes
- Understand your responsibilities to the players and the association

**If you are a manager, you need to:**

- Delegate
- Operate team snap
- Make up volunteer schedule
- Book tournaments
- Request permits (for any travel out of medicine hat you need to request a travel permit)
- Communicate with parents
- Volunteer for tournament committee
- Keeper of the team info
- Organize fundraisers, buses, hotels, apparel, budget (if no treasurer)
- Ensure all paperwork is completed
- Be 2^nd signor for bank acct
- Apply for AGLC license as needed
- Know your team’s HC number
