Restrictions and Reimbursements

Jan 19, 2021 Colbi Covid-19, News 0 comments

We hope you were able to enjoy the holidays and are as happy as we are to move into a new year! That being said, yesterday’s news from the Government of Alberta and AHS was not what we were hoping to hear.

As you probably have heard, the current restrictions have been extended for at least another 2 weeks, until January 25th at the earliest. Again, we are hopeful at that time we will see a return to play in some format. Hockey Alberta is working hard to show we can safely return to hockey, and will continue to do so over the next 2 weeks in an effort to make that happen. The hope is, if the return to school goes well, we might be back on the ice again by the end of the month.

Our Association is aware that there may be a need for reimbursements of some kind, depending on how the rest of this season proceeds. We want to assure you that we are preparing for that situation should the season be shortened significantly or outright cancelled. Our desire is to work with the City to possibly play later into the spring to make up for lost time. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to know what scenarios to plan for, so we will address the reimbursement topic at a time when we know exactly how the rest of this unique season will unfold.

We want to again say a huge thank you for all your patience throughout everything that’s happened in this unpredictable year. It hasn’t been easy for anyone and we truly appreciate the understanding that the vast majority of our members have shown. We look forward to getting back to the rinks and the game we all love, and working with all of our outstanding volunteers. We will continue to plan for a Return to Hockey, whenever that may be.

Thank you again for your continued support!
