Tribute – Jeff Gold

This past week the local hockey community lost a well-known Coach, mentor and friend. Jeff “Goldie” Gold as he was affectionately known coached in Medicine Hat minor hockey beginning in the early 2000’s and spanning more than 15 years. Jeff had a passion to teach young men and women the game of hockey and over the span of his career coached well over 400 players.
Jeff’s philosophy was more about growing up to be a good person and have success not only in hockey but in life, which set him apart from the average coach. Jeff had plenty of success as well including, winning a Pee Wee AA banner and having a great showing in the provincial championships.
I would bet every parent and player has a funny Goldie story, as Jeff could light up a room regardless if you were 9 years old or 90. His boys Taylor and Tanner have all the best attributes of their father and our hearts go out to them and their family. Jeff will be deeply missed by all those he was involved with either through hockey or the business community.
Rest in peace Coach you will be missed,
On behalf of all Medicine Hat Minor Hockey.
