We’re excited to kick off another great year with MHMHA. We want to thank all our players, families, coaches, and volunteers for their ongoing support and commitment. Please take a moment to review the following key information to help ensure a smooth and successful start to the season. We will send more updates and information throughout the summer.
Pant Shell Program
Based on feedback from last season regarding inconsistent pant shell colours and delayed delivery times, MHMHA has partnered with Source to ensure that official pant shells are available and in stock for all rep teams, including AA, CAHL, and RMFHL. Families can now go directly into the store and leave with the approved shells without waiting for delivery. Shells will be available for in-store purchase after evaluations are complete.
The designs have been finalized and approved, and all colours now meet MHMHA standards. One of the main goals of this program is to reduce unnecessary costs for families who previously felt the need to purchase new shells each season. These shells will be the official MHMHA pantshells for the next few years, minimizing yearly expenses.
Evaluations and Rosters
All rep team rosters will be posted the day following Black and White games, no later than 4:00 PM on our website. The evaluation process will follow the same structure as last year for AA, CAHL and RMFHL. Full details are outlined in our Player Evaluation Policy, which can be accessed on our website. We will continue to use Team Genius to collect evaluation data. Only the General Manager and President have access to this software. They will review the data nightly to ensure consistency and accuracy throughout the evaluation period.
Coaching Assignments and Certification
At this time, no coaches have been selected for AA, CAHL, or RMFHL teams. All individuals who applied are encouraged to attend as many skates as possible to observe. For those who applied for U7 or U9 coaching positions, their names and contact information have been forwarded to the Director of Intro to Hockey. Similarly, anyone interested in coaching City League has had their information sent to the Director of City League.
All prospective coaches are encouraged to begin working on the required certifications as early as possible. The office becomes extremely busy later in the season with certification inquiries, and coaches can save time by starting early. Certification details can be found here: https://www.hockeyalberta.ca/coaches/clinic-information/
