DEFINITIONS #

Independent Evaluators: An independent evaluator is an adult (age 18 and older) that has no known direct connection to a player associated in any way with the age group being evaluated.

Evaluation Committee: A committee of 2 or more people, selected by the MHMHA board (may or may not be a member), to oversee the evaluation process to keep the process transparent and fair for all members. The committee members can vary between age groups and evaluation levels to spread out the workload. Committee members shall have no association with the age group/level they are overseeing.

Evaluation Form: The evaluation criteria set for a certain age group or evaluation that all evaluators will use to evaluate players. This form can change per evaluation but may never be changed during an evaluation. The evaluation committee will set these criteria.

TEAM SELECTION – CAHL/REP #

  1. The order in which the team will be selected is: AAA (if applicable), AA (if applicable), Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4/5, City. In the case of U15, U16, U17, and U18, the following guidelines will start at the highest remaining level following any SEAC evaluations and team selections. SEAC evaluations will not carry into MHMHA evaluations.
  2. Based on the evaluation results, the highest ranked 6 forwards, 4 Defense, 1 goalie are automatically selected to the team. The head coach may choose to eliminate any of these players for a variety of reasons, but it first must be approved by the evaluation committee. For the remaining 3 forwards, 2 defense, 1 goalie required to fill the roster, the coach can select from the 6 highest remaining forwards, the 4 highest remaining defense, and 2 highest remaining goalies.
  3.  After the highest-ranked roster is set, the highest-ranked 6 forwards, 4 Defense, 1 goalie released following the higher-ranked teams black and white game are automatically selected to the next lower team and will not partake in any further evaluations. All other released players will continue to participate in the following evaluation process to determine the selection of the remaining available roster spots. This system will continue for each consecutive team until all CAHL/REP teams are fully selected. Special considerations to this point will require a majority vote of approval by the evaluation committee and the corresponding director(s).
  4. Once the roster is set by the head coach and approved by the evaluation committee, the roster will be provided to the office to post on the MHMHA website and input for registry.

#

TEAM SELECTION – CITY (U9 AND UP) #

  1. 1. A draft will be called by the coordinator for all selected coaches to attend. The goal of this draft is to create evenly matched teams for healthy competition.
  2. The draft order will be selected by the coordinator by means of random selection (ie. pick names out of a hat or something equivalent).
  3. A “snake draft” will commence with the parameters being set by the coordinator.
  4. Once the roster is set by the head coach and approved by the evaluation committee/coordinator, the roster will be provided to the office to post on the MHMHA website and input for registry.

Any revisions, additions or updates to these policies will be posted on the website. Any Policy marked with an Asterix (*) denotes a zero-tolerance policy. Upon which a violation occurs there will be no concessions made by the association.
